Because the music often heard in sacred spaces does not proportionally match the contributions made by women composers, choir and organ pieces heard in worship this month come from the canon of female composers and contributors- works that history has always known existed, but works that nonetheless remained hidden in plain sight.
This work culminates in a benefit concert for Marin County's Center for Domestic Peace on Sunday afternoon, March 23, at 4pm. Music by the St. Stephen's choir and our fine staff soloists will highlight the important work of female composers past and present. A reception will follow in Kimball Hall.
Make plans to join us for the following additional concerts this spring:
Sunday, April 13, 4pm: Caroline Armitage, soprano, and Sepp Hammer, baritone
Sunday, April 27, 4pm: The College of Marin Vocal Jazz Ensemble; Dr. Laura Wiebe, director
