Holiday Giving through St Stephen's Church 2020

Christmas Gifts
Adopt A Family

Wrapped gifts & tag indicating boy or girl & age range Deadline for drop off is 10th December, 3:00pm This year St Stephen’s is partnering with Adopt A Family of Marin to support families in our Marin community during the holiday season.

We will be collecting wrapped gifts of toys for children ages newborn to 13 years old. Gift cards can be purchased for older children too. All gifts must be new, and wrapped with a tag on the outside indicating if the gift is for a boy or a girl and approximate age range of the present.

The holiday gift barrel will be placed in the Narthex of the Church. Drop off gifts Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Sundays, 10 am - 3:00 pm. Or you can call or email the office@ststephenschurch.org and arrange for someone to pick up your gift. All donations must be in the barrel by 10th December at 3:00 pm. This is of particular importance given the infrequency of staff present in the office during Covid-19.

Adopt A Family of Marin works year-round to prevent homelessness and provide stability for families in crisis. The agency acts as a safety net for many families in the County by providing short term financial assistance. This year, Adopt A Family has distributed over $700,000 in financial assistance to families living in Marin County. Every year, with the help of donors, Adopt A Family provides a warm holiday for hundreds of families in need. Our hope is that supporting these local families, we can make a difference in our community.

Rain Ponchos & Socks for the Homeless

63% of Marin’s homeless population is unsheltered. At St Stephen’s, we started a ministry a few years ago — thanks to Joe Jennings — to collect funds in the late fall each year to purchase rain ponchos and wool socks for our homeless, unsheltered neighbors.

Ponchos cost approximately $20 each, and Merino wool camping socks cost about $3. The ponchos and wool socks get distributed to those in need by Ritter Center in San Rafael and Homeward Bound in Novato. Your participation is greatly needed and appreciated!

Please make cash and check donations only (no shopping required as this is a fund drive, not a goods drive). Checks should be made out to St Stephen’s Church with
Rain Gear in the memo line. We will purchase and distribute the items as funds are received. The rains have arrived, so the time is now to help those who do not have shelter!

Thank you so much for participating in this important ministry. For more information contact Chris Simpson Brent at brentfamily@gmail.com or at 415-328-8580.
